Rita Tuttle Obituary

Rita Tuttle of Gilbert, AZ passed away on June 5, 2008 after a brief illness. Rita was born to Fred and Gertrude Rheinheimer in Minot, North Dakota on June 17, 1939 and lived most of her life in Indiana and Ohio, before moving to Arizona in 1980. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Jerry Tuttle, three daughters, Jaci Tuttle, Lori Bishop and Lisa Hodges, one son, Brendt Tuttle and their families, which include 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Rita will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her positive outlook, her humor, and her ability to make anyone she met feel like family. Her spirit will live on in the traditions she began and shared with her family and friends, like Christmas Cookie Day and Friday night gatherings. Though she will be greatly missed, one only needs to look around at her family to see her in them. Memorial services were held on Monday, June 9th, at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses. Rita was laid to rest at the City of Mesa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. www.hospiceofthevalley.org

There are people in your life who have meant so much to you...even as the years pass and you don't stay in touch often. My heart is heavy upon learning of Rita's passing. I will never forget the years we worked together, and the everyday breaks, lunches and breaks, playing cards, laughing..Rita was like a Mom to me and she will forever be Rita "Tootle" and have a special place in my heart.

Dear Jaci and Family,

We wish we could be there in person, but we are there in spirit.

Dear Uncle Jerry, Jaci, Lisa, Lori, Brent and families;
Passion and humor is what I think of when I think of the Rheinheimer family. Rita epitomizes the Rheinheimers. Mom always envied your close family gatherings. Of course the humor came in to play when she would tease your Mom about not being a Rheinheimer because she the only one born in a hospital. She was "special." When Rita was alive I felt like my Mom was still on earth. I can't tell you how much I will miss her emails. I knew someone out there in our family cared about me. She meant the world to me and I will miss her terribly. My heart goes out to all of you. I think the highest compliment you can give someone is to know that they made a difference in this vast world. She made a difference in my life and I'm sure many others.

Dear Jerry and Family:

We were so sad to hear of Rita's passing. All the memories of school days, parties and good times came flooding back. We remember too the last few times we got together in Phoenix.

We're sure you all must miss her terribly as we know well the bond that families share among parents, children and grandchildren. But we know she will go on as part of your lives and memories much as we all keep the spirit of those we knew and loved for the rest of our lives.

We just want to extend our deepest sympathies and wish you all happiness going forward in her memory.

We are sadden by Ritas passing- but we know we will see her on the other side of Heavens Gates one day- which brings us tear of joy not saddness. She is no longer in pain but smiling down upon us from Heaven above. We will miss her great smile and her witty sense of humor. She was a special friend and neighbor to both of us. She left quite a legacy thru her children and grandchildren... they were truely blessed to have her in their lives and those blessing's will continue on with the special times they remember her by with keeping on of those family traditions. She will be their guardian angel watching over all of them with delight. Our prayers are with the family and extended family at this time Rita would want all us to laugh and enjoy life and keep playing cards as she did.
