Robert Flowers Obituary

Robert A. Flowers, 67, passed away on June 12, 2005. He was born on July 16, 1937 to Robert Bethel and Frances (Eves) Flowers in East Prairie, Missouri. He attended school in Muskegon, Michigan. Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. As a ham radio technician and registered ice cap superintendent, he helped establish the communication system on the ice cap in Greenland with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1960-1961. His interest in ham radio continued throughout his lifetime, with several commendations, including recognition for intercepting and relaying a call for lifesaving assistance. He married Cecelia Sue (Bowlin) in 1962 and had two sons, Jeffery Allen and Donald Andrew, and two daughters, Kelly Sue (Pamula) and Nicole Frances (Ford). He is survived by his loving wife and four children, four granddaughters, Hillary, Chelsea, Rylee and Jenna, his mother Frances, brother Dick and two sisters Carol (Young) and Betty (LaVere). Memorial services will be held on June 23 at 11 a.m. at the Red Mountain United Methodist Church, 2936 N. Power Road, Mesa, AZ, 85215-9746. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, http://www.hov.org, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
