I was not aware of Rogers passing until today but when I saw the name I knew it was the Roger I worked with in State Dept of Child Support some years back. I liked Roger and enjoyed talking to him and even after all these years I can feel his loss. My condolences to all of his family that he loved so much.

Every morning I'd make my daily rounds to the Admin Building, and every morning I would see Roger. We'd share hellos and Roger would alway shake my hand, smile, and reply, "He's doing a good job", and I would respond, "Yes he is". I'll miss our morning routine and his contagious smile.

Roger was one of kind, genuine and sincere. Always put a smile on your face and made you laugh. You found yourself seeking him out on a really bad day, so he could give you that smile and laughter. Roger was a great man to work with and even more a great friend! I will miss him dearly..

I will remember Roger as a fun guy and those crazy bologna and potato chip sandwiches. He was always able to help me with my computer problems. I know his family was very important to him by the pictures he always had in his office. I know he loved putting up the Christmas display and it took almost 2 months to assemble it. I will say a prayer for him and his family.

When I think of Roger so many things come to my mind.A Bologna Sandwich with Potato chips on it.The Christmas Village he loved so much. He always impressed me with how much he loved his family. He showed that love when he talked about them. Roger was a true gentleman and he will be missed by so many friends.

Roger and I used to have a standing date. We would meet every morning at 6 AM for our cigarette together and talk about the day past, the day ahead, our kids and grandchildren. Roger was a bright light for me when I worked at the Recreation Centers with him. Whenever there was a computer problem, he would always say: reboot, restart, call Roger. He was a very special person, and the thought of him no longer being here saddens me. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. He will be missed.

As a new vendor for the Rec Center, I had only recently met Roger in person after a series of entertaining email exchanges. When he gave me a tour of the facilities, it was quickly apparent that everyone knew Roger and everyone had a smile and a wave and a "thanks for taking care of that for me, Roger". How privileged I was to meet Roger Smallwood and how saddened I am that we lost the opportunity to become friends. I had been wondering why I have been so touched by the passing of a man I knew only briefly. I now realize that I lost my own Dad suddenly when he was only 67. My Dad had that same sly wit and twinkle in his eye that I immediately loved about Roger. So, meeting Roger was like going back in time, ever so briefly. My condolences to all of Roger's family and many, many friends. How profoundly he will be missed.
