Scott Waxman Obituary

Scott Waxman

Flagstaff - Early Sunday morning, March 4, 2018 Scott Waxman, aged 56, left this world to continue his journey. He was the oldest son of Elaine and Allan Waxman (deceased) and leaves behind his beloved wife Tami (Batya), his children Brittany Waxman, Avi Waxman, Shad Waldron, and Xeth Waxman (Amanda), brother Cory Waxman and sister Valerie Marsh (Jon) and nieces and nephews, grand children and stepfather Robert Segelbaum. A graduate of Central High School, he attended Stanford University and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He had a passion for math and science, and blessed the lives of countless students as a high school math teacher in Ash Fork, Flagstaff, and Northern Arizona University, and most recently at K12 Charter Schools. His greatest passion aside from his family was to study and live out Torah.

Although he suffered from the ravages of multiple sclerosis for 30 years, he was never shaken from his deep faith or his positive attitude. Scott loved life. His favorite expression, even when suffering from his MS was "it's a beautiful day to be alive!" Scott will be missed by everyone he touched. Funeral services will be private. Shiva will be held at the Segelbaum/Waxman Residence on Thursday, March 8th at 6:30 pm. Friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, 85014 or Poor Medical Clinic, 120 W. Fine Ave., Flagstaff 86001 or your favorite charity. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.

I had Mr waxman as my teacher in 1997. He was wonderful and so smart! I always talk about him to this day and tried to look him up to find him to tell him thank you. So sorry he passed.

Scott,
Man, you just killed me at 3-5-7 in Mr. Cox's class. Then, 10 years later, there you were in SF, living with us while you bike messengered and decided what to do with yourself. You were utterly determined to live simply then.
You made your own yogurt, and had almost no possessions. You were a terrific vegetarian cook! You were a good friend to us roommates. You were such a damn pill sometimes! You quietly shared our burdens. I am lucky to have known you. It's a hard thing to learn that your hearty delightful michievous laugh is gone.

Scott is a blessing to everyone who knows him. Remember him as a teenager in my house, and ended up living in his neighborhood decades later in Flagstaff.

First kid to get a perfect math score on the SAT's in the late 1970's.. He taught online to girls I know in Flagstaff, because I am their scout leader. They were so happy to have Mr. Waxman as their teacher. Scott always refers to those who have passed on in the present tense, like my brother and my son.

Scott is one of the smartest men on the planet and one of the nicest. My love to all the Waxman family. Prayers
