To all the Peterson family: I'm so sorry for your (our) loss. As a second cousin to Stephen, I didn't get to see him as often as I would have liked. One of my fondest memories is of when I was 13 (my first and only trip to California). He was staying with Aunt Freda that summer. I have a picture of Stephen and me at the beach somewhere, nearly getting knocked over by the waves. The water was freezing! We had a great time. That visit was really my first opportunity to get to know Stephen, and I've always remembered it. We'll all miss him.

Just when the world needed someone like you, God decided that it was time to bring you home. You will be greatly missed, and your contributions to United Blood Services and the Salvation Army will not be forgotten.
My empathy goes out to your wife and children. My father was taken away at a young age from my mother, sister, and me when I was a very little girl. I know what they are feeling, and I still miss my daddy to this day.
And thank you for remembering my "real" name despite the fact that we rarely spoke. :)

Lori and Girls,
My last recollection of Steve was at the cookie exchange this past year. He and your family seemed happy and content.
May God cast his love and grace upon you and the girls during this difficult journey.
