Suzan Boring Obituary

Boring, Suzan Lee VanOrman
65, passed peacefully into heaven July 14, with her husband, John, by her side after a two-year fight against ovarian cancer. Born in Portsmouth, Va., to Mylo Jay (deceased) and Dolores VanOrman, Suzi spent her childhood in Cadillac, Mich. She was an accomplished downhill skier, excelled in school academics, played the flute and twirled the baton for school band marches. She attended Central Michigan University before moving permanently to Arizona in 1968. A brief marriage ended in divorce. Suzi worked for many of the hallmark banks of Arizona as a secretary and administrative assistant. In 1970 she went to work for Arizona Title Insurance and Trust Company, where she met her future husband, John Boring. Together, they enjoyed many years of travel, excitement and fun. Suzi became a sharp tennis player until a snowmobile accident left her with back injuries. Her zest for living was infectious and few could resist her smile and beauty. She loved others with all of her heart, holding back nothing. Her mission in life was to help others as her many friends will testify. She leaves behind her husband, John, mother, Dolores, brother, Max (Colleen), step-children Mike Boring (Mari) and Vicky Stevenson (Brad), and grandchildren Paul Boring, Sarah Boring Tefft (Wes), and Taylor Mary Houser-Boring. Family requests donations in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 Flower Street, Phoenix, Az 85014, in lieu of flowers or cards. Memorial services Friday, July 26, 11:00 a.m., at Open Door Fellowship Church, 8301 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

Your Suzi was a very loving woman, very caring, and we loved her. We feel great sorrow for your loss. Remember that those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Know that Suzi and Dan will never be very far from our hearts.

I had the pleasure of working with Suzi for several years. We moved beyond the customer/client relationship to friendship and her friendship has been such a gift. She was calm, faithful, hard working, a woman of integrity and a delight to be around. She often made me laugh at our common experiences and brought fun to difficult circumstances. She has been a joy to know. I am so glad that Suzi is with our Lord in a place of wholeness and joy.

I am broken hearted over losing Suzi, but feel so blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years, though not nearly long enough. She was a woman of unmatched, grace, compassion and beauty. She made everyone feel as though they truly mattered. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary etc. I will miss her immensely but am happy that she is with Dan and know that we will all be together again. Heaven has a new most amazing angel.

My memory of Suzi was her total devotion to John as she was falling in love in the 70's while she and I were co-workers at Arizona Title. It's comforting to read all the posts and find that Suzi and John found God and are born again in Christ. Gal. 2:20. May God grant you peace like a river. Suzi was a warm, vivacious person. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Suzi was my cherished friend for 45 yrs after being roommates at CMU. We continued a strong friendship even though the miles separated us. When we were able to get together, it was like the years never kept us apart. I loved Suzi's enthusiasm for life, her sweet voice and beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by so many, but we were blessed having known her. We can find comfort in knowing she is experiencing immense joy and peace now. We will all see her again and she will be ready to greet us with open arms.

God Speed Suzi! May you enjoy the warm embrace of Danny. John may the Lord give you strenght as start a new journey.

July 16, 2013

John, how blessed I am to have known the two of you for so many years. In fact I remember the first time Suzi brought you into our apartment. She was so in love, and through the ups and downs over the years, that one thing never changed. Now you begin the tough journey of living without her by your side, but we all know that it will be a blink of an eye until we spend eternity together with our Lord. Be brave my "kissin cousin" and let the people who love you hold you when you cry, and listen to your stories when you need to talk.

I am richer for having know Suzi and you both. Your journey with Suzi that you shared with us has made our sadness at her leaving much less and while we will always miss her, we know she is safe in God's arms in Heaven with all those who have gone before her. I'll bet she and Ken are having a cold one right now :) She was a talented, beautiful, gracious and loving woman and she leaves us with so many, many warm memories. God Bless all of you in your loss.

My sweet, loving and beautiful wife, how you blessed me with your love and your strength in our marriage. You leave me empty but with the promise of fullfillment when we meet again. I am but one step behind you. You left a legacy in our granddaughter, Taylor, who will speak at your memorial service. You need not worry about her, she has you as her role model and she will love you forever and walk in your steps just as much as she can. My love for you was endless and total, my sweet Dingy. Please watch over me and keep me level headed and on the right path. You know how weak is my attention span. Love you forever, Suzi. Tell Dan, for me, how quickly I long to join you two.
