Thomas Jonovich Obituary

Jonovich, Thomas John
A Celebration of Life: Thomas John (Johnnie) Jonovich, 92, died Saturday, December 31st, 2011 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona of complications from a broken leg. Johnnie's last hours were spent surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed and leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Nancy Griffin-Jonovich; his son Dick (Karen); daughter Teresa Hewitt (Ed); son Greg (Joyce); Grandchildren, Christiane (Ben), Heather (Mike), Tommy (Melissa), Eddy, Robyn, Nathan, Brittany and Great Grandchildren; Gianna, Clayton, Kyle, Gregory and Scout and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jill, son, Davey, granddaughter Charemon, sisters Dorothy and Mary and brothers Spiro, Dave and George. Thomas was born in Claypool, Arizona and raised in Globe, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University where he was fullback for the Arizona State Bulldogs. His football career was briefly interrupted with his service in the U.S. Army where in addition to his assigned duties as TSgt he played football as a morale booster for the troops. After the war, Thomas returned to ASU to complete his education. He remained a staunch ASU fan throughout his life. In his early years, Thomas delivered milk door-to-door for Shamrock Dairy, sold insurance and later retired from a two decade career in auto sales. Thomas had a huge heart and a deep love for family and friends. Everyone was his best friend. He was our strong patriarch. His calling card was his broad smile and his massive handshake that he shared with many during his lifetime. For the past few years Thomas enjoyed the services at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church where he faithfully attended. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday,
January 6th at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, 6640 South Kings Ranch Road, Gold Canyon, Arizona at 11:00 a.m. Dad, You are always in our heart - we will miss you deeply.

The burial service went very well I must say and for knowing your family all of my life I still managed to learn new things that I wasn't really surprised at but awed by. Someone said that your parents left a great legacy and that, they sure did. I love you three like you were my own sister and brothers. I am so very proud of each of you and still can't get over the fact that Greg is a grandfather, wow!
All the wonderful memories your dad took home to share with your mom, as if she didn't already know them but now they can share them together. I love you Dicky, Teresa and Greg, forever and a day. Love Dena xoxoxo

All the men folk called you Tom and all us gals called you Johnney. You are the last of our parents to pass. I remember Teresa bought you a tie every Father's Day. Our two families shared many years of breakfasts, dinners, camping, and you and my dad every Saturday night watching the ASU games when Frank Kush was the coach. I learned a lot about you from your memorial and I knew you all of my life. Thank you for being such a strong and wonderful friend to my parents, along with your wife Jill. You have 3 beautiful children that love you and they will miss you deeply. What a good dad you were Johnney. Love Dena Jeffcoat-Forristal
