Vincent Messina Obituary

Messina, Vincent "Vince, Vinny", J.
72, of Glendale passed away on February 20, 2017. Born October 7th, 1944 and raised in Brooklyn ,NY. Served in the US Army, went to business school and worked as VP of a bank. But, Vince loved good food, good times and good friends and found his place in the restaurant business where he made his living for the rest of his life. Vince "Vinny" was known by friends, customers and colleagues for his generosity, hospitality, graciousness and sense of humor. He always had a joke or a prank that made you laugh. "Papa" taught his grandkids how to cook and play poker and made every day moments into a special memory. Vince was a hard worker, a romantic who loved his wife Pat. He loved to make her laugh, lavished her with thoughtful gifts and surprises like having a limo pick her up for a date on a special occasion just because. Vince is survived by Pat, his wife of 30 years, his 3 children Michelle Messina, Joseph Messina, Grace Frey, grand children Brady & Bella Frey, step kids Ken Long, Christle Miersma, Daniel Long and grandkids Kenny, Austin, Amy, Jamie, Hannah, Tyler, Jameson, Olivia, Stella and his sister Josephine Messina. Vinny was my second cousin on my Dad's side. He & the rest of the family would come on weekends during the Summertime to enjoy our crazy family parties at my grandparents house in East Hampton. I had not seen Vinny in years, but I remember him being, funny, sweet & warm. Just a fun loving person. I always thought I would see him again & I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I have so many fond memories.

To the Messina Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
