W. Stevens Obituary

W. Herb Stevens, 95, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on July 13, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 11300 N. 64th Street. Herb was born in Montpelier, Idaho on April 1, 1911.
He attended Utah State University. He worked for Ford Motor Company as a zone manager and assistant district manager. He married Marian Grant from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in Butte, Montana on May 2nd, 1942. Shortly after he was commissioned in the U.S. Army. Herb played an important role in the European Theater of Operations in WW II. He was awarded the Bronze Star with two Oak-Leaf Clusters. In 1947 he moved to Phoenix to become the first Lincoln-Mercury dealer in the state of Arizona. He served as President of the downtown Phoenix Lion's Club and was active in the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Club and Phoenix Country Club. Herb's surviving family includes his wife, Marian, daughters Susie Mehen (Jimmy) and Nancy Lucier (Rich) and sons Danny (Linda) and Dave (Sue), 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Barbara Stevens, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
