Walter King Obituary
July 18, 1920 – December 7, 2017. Arizona lost a lifelong resident on December 7th 2017. Dr. King passed at age 97 peacefully in his sleep after a long, full and joyous life. He lived life well. Dr. King practiced dentistry in Phoenix until age 88. He served in the US Navy and Marine Corp during WW ll and Korea. As a community leader, he was president of the Central Arizona Dental Society and president of Camelback Kiwanis where he was a member for 25 years. He also was a member of Phoenix Country Club and served several terms on the board of directors. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fly-fishing in the White Mountains. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice (Keyes) of 60 years, his sister Mary Eleanor King (Howard Holmes) and his grandson, Bradley Bandes age 17. He is survived by his children, John King, Susan King (Craig Asbury), Rob King, Bill King, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, long-time companion, Peggy Crayton, and devoted caretaker, Ana Reyna. A Memorial service will be held at Christ Church of The Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, on Monday December 18th at 11:00AM

Dr. King was my mother's childhood friend. He became our family dentist and was so good to all of us. I am grateful today that he scared me into taking care of my teeth! When I was little, he -- and his equipment -- looked large and daunting! He also had a big smile and was very caring.
May his family find peace in knowing he lived a good and helpful life.
