Wayne Botkin Obituary

Wayne Wesley Botkin 85, of Phoenix, died October 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Samanauk, Illinois. He is survived by his older brother, Leroy of Northbrook, Illinois and his four sons, Spencer, William, Wayne, Jr. and Douglas. Wayne was born in Carthage, Illinois and graduated from Carthage College before serving in the Navy in WWII, stationed in the South Pacific. After the war he received his Masters degree from the University of Iowa and went to work for General Electric, moving to Phoenix in 1961. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as an active civic leader including: founding President of the Royal Palm Little League, Phoenix Thunderbird Rotary-President 1971, Host Family for the World Affairs Council of Arizona, Republican Party Precinct Committeeman, Beatitudes Care Campus Board Member, Beatitudes Center DOAR Board Member, Trustee and Water Czar Rancho Grande Landerwood Water District, and Beatitudes Church Choir. He was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast and enjoyed International travel. He ended his career as a Controller for Glendale Union High School District. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Church of the Beatutides,555 West Glendale Ave., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, any donations to DUET, formerly the Beatitudes Center DOAR, 555 West Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ, 85021,would be greatly appreciated.
