William Muller Obituary

William Scott Muller, born September 24, 1964, in Somerville, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2007 after a courageous 18-month battle against kidney cancer. Bill was surrounded by his devoted wife Deborah, his loving mother, brother, and sister, adoring mother-in-law and several close friends. Bill was an award-winning journalist for the Arizona Republic for 13 years, with a career seeing him cover politics, public affairs, features and, finally, movies for the last seven years. He moved to Phoenix in 1994 after stints at newspapers in Dallas and Raleigh, NC. He was a gifted writer, voracious sports fan, lively conversationalist, and, above all, a proud father. Bill had integrity, wisdom, wit, and an immeasurable dedication to his family, friends, neighbors and job. Cancer did not beat Bill, nor did it slow him down - he was an inspiration to all of those who were with him throughout his fight. He is survived by his wife Deborah, daughter Madeline, son Hudson, mother Sandra Sue Harvey (Richard), sister Kelly Roberts, brother Christopher Yannetta (Holly), mother-in-law Judy Deutsch (Paul), brother-in-law Charles Forsch (Sarah Sheehe), and four nieces and nephews. He was admired by everyone lucky enough to know him. His honesty, personality, generosity and charm will never be forgotten. Bill always knew how to bring a smile or laugh to all, and he will be missed. We know that Bill will be our guardian angel, protecting his loved ones and doing all he can to ensure the Dallas Cowboys win another Super Bowl. A celebration of Bill's life will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007, 1:30 pm, at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85254. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, 1234 Sherman Ave., Suite 203, Evanston, IL 60202 or to Hospice of the Valley, Sherman Home, 5801 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, AZ 85054.

Deborah,
I'll pray for you & your family for courage & strength during this difficult time for you. I didn't know Bill personally, only thru his sense of humor in his movie reviews, and knew that he was someone I'd have a good time with if I'd ever met him. God bless you all.
