David J. Hoshaw, 67, died Tuesday, March 16. 2010.
Mr. Hoshaw was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Tulsa, Okla., to Oris J. and Valarie B. Adams Hoshaw. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-63, achieving the rank of corporal. He served with the 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division. Cpl .Hoshaw was also accepted to Annapolis Naval Academy for Entry of the Enlisted Commissioning Program prior to his release from active duty. He excelled for several years working for the B.F. Goodrich Tire Company and was owner of various businesses. His special interests and passions included but were not limited to all things to do with the Marine Corps, veterans causes, Toys for Tots, charity golf tournaments, performing wild west shows with the Oak Creek Gang and anything you could do to benefit and add to the life of anyone he could. He was surrounded by many of those who loved him when he died and will be missed here on this Earth by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cristina; son David; daughters Darla, Dinia and Byllie (with Damon); 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
In memory of Mr. Hoshaw, donations can be sent in his name to the American Legion Post No. 3, 204 W. Birch Ave., Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
A memorial service will be at the American Legion on Sunday at noon. A celebration of his life will be at the Mountainaire Tavern, 110 Mountainaire Road, (928) 525-1137, following the service. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.norvel owensmortuary.com.
