Lucy Navarro Fajardo was born July 6, 1926 in Flagstaff to Ramon and Isabel Navarro. She passed away September 3, 2018 at home surrounded by family.
Lucy lived her entire life in Flagstaff. After attending Flagstaff Public Schools, she worked at Sprouse Ritz and Fine's Clothing Store. Lucy married the love of her life Joe Fajardo on June 12, 1948 and had eight daughters. While raising her daughters, she opened her home to care for children of numerous family and friends and later her grandchildren. Lucy was a member of Guadalupe Chapel, St. Pius and San Franscisco de Asis Parish. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family as well as hosting large family gatherings. In recent years she enjoyed watching and cheering on the Arizona Diamondbacks and enjoyed doing crafts and coloring.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Joe of 60 years, daughter Josephine, great-grandson Andrew Garcia and son-in-law Charlie Newell.
She is survived by her daughters Margaret Newell, Vickie Garcia (Geof), Dolores Jacquez (Tony), Yolanda Sanchez (Peter), Lucy Martin (Terry), Toni Harkey (Kenny) Rosalie Bachstein (Brian); 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, brother Ray Navarro, many extended family members and her beloved dog, Sugar.
Rosary and Visitation will be at Guadalupe Chapel Sunday September 9th at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at San Francisco de Asis at 10:30 am, with interment following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
