We are sad to share the loss of our mother and daughter, Amy Elizabeth Baker, 44. Amy was born on January 17th, 1978 in Bakersfield, California and passed away unexpectedly on October 2nd, 2022.
Amy grew up in Bakersfield and Tehachapi, CA and graduated with honors from Stockdale High School. She had a beautiful inquiring mind and always worked to learn and understand herself. She was extremely proud to be the mother of Mia Christiana Skeels, age 20. She also had a gift for speaking French and expressing what was on her mind.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Mia Christiana Skeels; Mom and Dad, David and Eileen Simpson; Father, Brian Baker; and half brother, Ryan Baker. She had numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who also loved her dearly. We thank Jeremiah Skeels, the entire Skeels family, and our special friend Mendy Bowler. Amy was predeceased in death by Dr. Vernon and Mary Jensen, her maternal grandparents of Texas. Let's not forget her beloved cat Oliver.
A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of St. John's Luthean Church, 4500 Buena Vista Road, Bakersfield, CA at 1 pm on Friday, October 21st, 2022.
Please share with us God's peace that passes all understanding and brings to Amy her well deserved rest. The family requests memorial donations be made to NAMI (The National Association for the Mentally Ill) or Bakersfield Christian High School in memory of Amy Baker, the mother of Mia Skeels.

Amy I can't believe it's been 3 years already. It feels like a life time. Things aren't the same without you. Who am I going to go shopping with at the mall now? Who am I going to spend my birthday with. I still celebrate your birthday every year cuz I feel like you're still with me.ill never let our memories die. Remember you told me that I was like your sister because I had no immediate family. That you've been gone I have nobody but our memories that I hold close I'll never meet anyone like you again. I miss and love you till we meet again

My heart broke in two when I heard the news. Amy and I shared many many great times together. My 16th birthday in Tehachapi, in Bakersfield visiting once she moved back there, concerts, and even in San Diego when she lived there for a time. Our paths went different ways, I never had a chance to meet Mia but I hope one day that I might and be able to share some fun memories of her mom with her. I wish so much that I could be at the memorial to hug you Eileen, please know that I am with you all now, grieving as well. Rest In Peace my friend. May we meet again

My prayers and condolences to the family, she was a dear childhood friend growing up and we shared some great adventures and memories together as kids. Thankful our paths crossed in 4th grade, I was sad we lost touch when she moved back to Bakersfield, but it sounds like she leaves behind a legacy in her daughter and family. May you all find comfort in the memories she leaves with you and the world has a little less sunshine, as her smile and laugh radiated such joy. Again prayers and condolences.
