Andrew Chacon Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Chacon, 95, of Bakersfield, California. He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Andy was born on January 1, 1928, to Angel and Clara Chacon in Flagstaff, Arizona. After Andy graduated from Bakersfield High School, he attended Bakersfield College then transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, and he graduated from the UCSF School of Pharmacy in 1954.
Andy worked as a pharmacist at Thrifty Drug Store for many years before opening up his own pharmacy, The Medicine Shoppe, in Bakersfield and Lamont.
Andy met his wife Armida Rachel Elias in Bakersfield in 1963. They were married at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California in 1968. Andy and Rachel went on to have two children, Rona Chacon-Mellon in 1970 and Victoria Suzy Chacon-McKniff in 1971.
In 2010, Andy retired and spent his time traveling all over the world with his wife and family. He was an adventurous soul. Andy loved experiencing new cultures and trying things he had never done before including ziplining and even white water rafting! He had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh; however, his greatest joy came from being a grandfather. Patrick and his Papa had a very special relationship.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Angel and Clara Chacon, brother Ray Chacon and sisters Paula Pedroza, Lucy Ybanez, and Carmen Villegas. He is survived by wife Rachel Chacon, sisters Maria Chacon and Angie Clay, daughters Rona and Suzy, grandsons Patrick and Jake and many other beloved nieces, nephews and other family members.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2023 at Greenlawn River Blvd. with viewing at 9:00am and services beginning at 11:00am.
