David Blalock Obituary

David Blalock Sept. 14, 1928 - June 18, 2007 Graveside services for David Blalock will be held at Union Cemetery on Monday morning, June 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. David was born September 14, 1928 and he passed away June 18, 2007 in Bakersfield, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Margaret Blalock; brother, Raymond Keylon and daughter, Charleen DaPrato. He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Betty Blalock; brother and sister-in-law, Curt and Audrey Greer and his sister, Annie Dean. David worked in the farming community most of his life. He was a pro boxer in his early years, he was known as "Dexter Destroyer". He loved animals of all kinds and he accepted all the orphaned critters that his wife brought home. You name it, we had it. He was a quite man with simple pleasures. He always got back up no matter how hard life "punched" him. He loved opera and classical music which most people did not know. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. For additional service or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200. Basham Funeral Care

Skinny Grampa I sure miss our times together. You always put a smile on my face when we were together. My Girls are all grown up now, and Dave and I have many grandchildren. My girls remember being chased by your guard Geese chasing us from the car to your front door. We all miss you and Spike. Always in our hearts.

Skinny grampa is the kind of person that noone can forget. From his contagous laugh to his will to take care and spend time with his farm animals who always recognized him when he went out to see them.

skinny grampa was always there to share his stories of boxing, animals, and of course his love of betty boop. I wish that i could have spent more time with him..but i will never forget the memories that we share together especially his geese that chased me every time we visited, they were a pain. there's alot of good times and i will hold on to them forever.with love from your great grandaughter
