DAVID TODD FIEBER
May 23, 1961 – June 15, 2024
David Todd Fieber was born in Bakersfield, California to Nancy and Herman Fieber. While recovering from cancer treatment, he developed a new and aggressive type of cancer. He passed away on June 15, 2024, at Adventist Health Hospital, surrounded by his wife, niece Sophia, and sister-in-law.
He graduated from Shafter High and attended CalState Bakersfield for 3 years. He worked at United Artists Theater in Bakersfield as an Assistant Manager. His love of movies inspired him to move down south to work as an Assistant Manager at United Artists Theater in Sherman Oaks. He lived in the San Fernando Valley area and worked full-time for Crocker Bank in Beverly Hills and part-time at Pacific Theaters in Panorama City, where he met his future wife, Sonia. David and Sonia married May 10, 1986, and moved back to Bakersfield later that year to start a new life together. He worked as a Manager for Plaza Video for a couple of years. He started working for Kern County in 1988 and worked for the Coroner's/Conservatorship Office, Employers Training Resource, Child Support Services, Board of Trade, and Public Works as a Contract Administrator. After retiring in 2018, he wanted to start writing again, but then discovered other hobbies that kept him busy. David was an avid reader and had an extensive collection of books that reflected all his favorite subjects, but mainly movies. During his free time, he wrote a few scripts just for the fun of it. He was the ultimate sports fan. He followed the Rams since he was 9 years old. His favorite hockey team was the Edmonton Oilers. He also enjoyed PGA tournaments and was a college football (University of Michigan) fan. He attended many college sports (lacrosse, volleyball, polo, and basketball) at Stanford University.
David accompanied his dad to the 34th Bomb Group Association reunions and became a member of the group after his dad passed away. He enjoyed the yearly reunions to chat with veterans and their families. He felt a deep connection with the members of the Greatest Generation. The reunions took him and Sonia to different cities in the US and England.
David enjoyed life to the fullest. He and Sonia were always on the go, attending sports events, movies, concerts, musicals, Broadway shows, special movie events, going to Vegas for family trips and playing roulette, going to games at different stadiums/arenas to watch football, baseball, and hockey throughout the US and Canada. He enjoyed planning and booking trips. David and Sonia traveled to a lot of European countries and were planning to move to Spain when Sonia retired, but then Covid hit, which made them change their plan. Then, David was diagnosed with cancer in September 2023, so they had to cancel their scheduled trips.
David and Sonia didn't have any children, but in March 2010, his brother-in-law got physical custody of his daughter Sophia. Instantly, he became a second father to Sophia. David and Sonia traveled to the Bay Area twice a month to help his brother-in-law raise Sophia. He became Uncle David to Sophia's friends. He shared with his nephews and nieces the love of movies, sports, going to amusement parks, watching The Three Stooges and Godzilla, and enjoyed being silly to make them laugh. While at the hospital he said he was very proud of his nieces and nephews. He was proud of his nephew Manny when he became a high school football coach, and David became one of his biggest supporters by watching and attending all his games.
He was kind, humble, and thoughtful and always believed in doing the right thing. His most distinctive talent was his sense of humor. He could always come up with something very funny in a quick and effortless way. His legacy will live forever through all the lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife Sonia, brother Randy (Debby), sister Melissa (Allen), mother-in-law Antonia, sisters-in-law: Vilma, Morena (Joe), and Sandra, brother-in-law Manuel, nieces: Sophia, Leigh Ann (Stephen), and Ariel, nephews: Manny (Grace), Kyle, Brian (Hannah), Dan (Sarah), and Phil (Reannda), and his cousins.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, July 11th, at 11 AM, at Four Seasons Community Lodge, 10500 Toscana Drive.
In lieu of flowers, blood donations can be made to Houchin Blood Bank in his honor.
