Dawn Holloway Obituary

DAWN JOLANE HOLLOWAY

August 11, 1947 September 5, 2021

Dawn (Judy) Jolane Holloway was born August 11, 1947 and passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2021.

Born in Neosho, Missouri, the third daughter of William and Lucille Hudson, in her younger years her family moved to Lamont, CA where she attended and graduated Arvin High School in 1965. In 1968 she married James Callaway and had her only child, Kyle, in 1970. They raised Kyle in Lamont and in 1989 James and Dawn were divorced. In 1990, during a brief career selling Real Estate it was then she met the love of her life, Michael Holloway, and in 2001 they were married and never left each others' side. Dawn had received her BA in early childhood education and worked for and retired from CAPK. She devoted her life to making sure that low-income families were able to give their children the proper education that they needed to succeed in life. She then turned her focus to the staff and program requirements by supervising and managing many head start facilities throughout Kern County.

Upon retirement she resided in the mountains of Bear Valley Springs, CA. She devoted her time between her husband Mike, her two stepsons, Christopher and Scott, as well as her two grandsons, Garrett and Ayden, her son Kyle and daughter-in-law Michelle, and let us not forget about her beloved deer she talked about endlessly.

In Dawn's younger years she loved to sew her own clothes, she also loved to paint, she painted many oil paintings she hung proudly throughout her home. She also loved spending time tending to her vegetables or flowers gardens.

Dawn is preceded in death by her father William Hudson and mother Lucille Hudson.

Dawn is survived by her husband Michael Holloway, son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Michelle Callaway, as well as her two stepsons Christopher and Scott Holloway and her two beloved grandsons, Garrett Callaway and Ayden Holloway, as well as her sisters Sherran Toy, Penny Toy, and brother Victor Hudson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
