Eduardo Machado Obituary

EDUARDO C. MACHADO
1938 - 2021

On March 20, 2021, Eduardo, beloved husband, Dad, and Papi left this earth to meet our Lord.

His life began in Chihuahua Mexico, the youngest of four children whom have all preceded him in death. He met his beloved wife Guadalupe (his Nana) in Juarez and began an everlasting love story. Years later, together with several young children, they left their homeland and eventually settled in Lamont California. Leaving all that was comfortable and familiar to them was a sacrifice they made in order to provide their children a home, an education, and boundless opportunities.

As a child, Dad was a folklorico dancer and an athlete. He played baseball and soccer; and dreamed of being a boxer. As a husband, he was Nana's protector and sole provider for the family. For many years and with his children he enjoyed playing in adult softball leagues, riding roller coasters, dancing, and time spent with family and friends. His children's participation in sports, receiving the sacraments, and academic success made him proud. As he and Nana became empty nesters, they enjoyed taking road trips, attending sporting events, trips to the casino, and quiet time together.

He worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and family. On his days off from Lamont Winery, he would gather up the family and together they worked the onion fields of Lamont and Arvin. After 25 years at Lamont Winery, he retired and pursued his dream of becoming a Barber. He opened Eddie's Barber Shop in East Bakersfield in 2004 and after 18 years, he still had no plans to fully retire.

He not only was a great Dad, he was an even greater and playful Papi. There was always laughter and fun when he was with his 44 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He loved to joke with them, play pranks, and attempt activities they participated in; like sliding down a slip-n-slide at age 80. When the family was all together, he sometimes jokingly whispered to his Nana, "queria familia grande, pero no tantos; pongales numeros".

There is no doubt of God's blessings on a good life; a life of perseverance, faith, love, and joy.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years of marriage, Guadalupe; his sons Eduardo, Alvaro, Juan, Galdino, Carlos, Fernando; his daughters Modesta, Olivia, Anita; and joins his daughters in eternal rest, Guadalupe and Martha.

He also leaves behind his many sons and daughters in law, GRANDchildren, brother in law, nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren, and compadres whom also brought great love and laughter to his life.

And to his friends and clients of Eddie's Barber Shop, you all made his dream a reality. The family is eternally grateful and will miss hearing all the shop stories.

Eduardo Machado’s life is one of the many great and amazing American stories of families that decided to settle and established roots in Kern County. His Faith and Values are present and very well reflected in the Machado Family.
