Jake Womack Obituary

Jake was born in Bakersfield, California and spent most of his life here. Growing up, Jake absolutely loved going on walks and playing with the family dogs, Cody and Topaz. As a child he enjoyed hobbies like playing Pokemon (at age 10 placing 11th in the State Pokemon Tournament and 75th in the World Tournament), designing firework displays for the 4th of July and attending concerts locally and throughout LA. He spent a lot of time perfecting his own style of photography, choosing subjects like dogs, nature, or cars. When he was 16 he was thrilled to get his own car, a 2009 VW Golf GTI. Many hours were spent detailing his GTI, and often he would take spontaneous drives to the mountains to enjoy nature. During family vacations, Jake loved exploring Alaska, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Mexico, El Salvador, and Ireland.

Jake graduated from Independence High School in 2013. After a few years working in Bakersfield, he moved to Santa Barbara, California to attend college. While attending college full-time, Jake enjoyed working at locations like the local polo club and a 5-star resort. In his free time he enjoyed working out, watching ocean sunsets, going on hikes and hanging out with friends.

Jake is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rex Mull. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Mull, his paternal grandparents, Bill and Sally Womack, his mother, Ginny Womack, his father and step-mother, Steve and Celynn Womack, his sister, Katie Womack, his step-brothers AJ and Harley Dare, his maternal aunts, Susan Mull and Karen Kuchan, his cousin Mateo Kuchan-Mull, his maternal uncle, Steve Mull, his paternal uncle, Dave Womack, and his cousins, Andy, Samantha, and Miranda Womack.

Jake's contagious smile, ready sense of humor, compassionate heart and open mind will be infinitely missed. Words cannot express the deep, deep sadness that fills the hearts of those who love Jake. Our world will never be the same, but we hold the memories and essence of Jake close and pray for peace.

"There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart." -Mahatma Gandhi

It's my deepest sadness that we have lost a person who brought life and joy to so many lives. While he may be physically removed from our lives temporarily, I know that he is still with me. Though I didn't know him for the longest time, he made a profound impact on my life and the tint in which I see the world now. It's an insane thing to lose someone who had such a zest and passion for life, and it seemed that his main goal was to always ensure the happiness of others. It's been almost a year since I saw that beautiful face buddy, I miss you more everytime I think about you.
