James A. Grumbles August 30, 1932 - August 10, 2013 James "Jim" Grumbles was born, August 30, 1932 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Manuel and Elizabeth Grumbles. Jim attended Shafter High School where he met the love of his life, Betty Jean Turney. Jim and Betty were married April 3, 1953. They had two children Gary and Janet "Sue". Jim worked in the construction industry most of his adult life. He worked for Gannon Enterprises for over 30 years, for his longtime friend Tim Gannon. After retirement he continued to "work" in his garage/workshop, on all types of projects for friends and family. He treasured his time working on all the special projects with his beloved grandchildren. Jim passed away at home surrounded by family while listening to a Dodger baseball game, after struggling with a brief illness. Jim is preceded in death by parents Manuel and Elizabeth Grumbles, and brother Jesse Grumbles. Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Grumbles; son, Gary and wife Carol Grumbles; daughter, Janet and her husband, Jeff Hepp; grandchildren, Brad and Amy Grumbles, Sean and Lucy Grumbles, Scott Grumbles, Chelsey and Dylan DeGroot, Elliott Hepp; great grandchildren, Ellie and Paisley Grumbles, Makenna, Brooklyn and Brock DeGroot; siblings, Joe Grumbles, Royce (Judy) Grumbles, Roy (Sally) Grumbles, Sharon (Dale) Alexander. I am so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I have very fond memories of the days when I worked with him at Gannon's. One of my favorites was when I got contact lenses, I was so excited and Jim asked me, "how may fingers am I holding up?", and he was holding up the hand with the missing partial fingers. He was a wonderful man.
