Joe Parra
1954 - 2017
Joe Talavera Parra, 63, of Shafter, California, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 due to an unexpected illness. A viewing will be held Friday, October 20th at Peters Funeral Home at 844 E. Lerdo Hwy. in Shafter from 4PM-8PM. There will be a celebration of Life on Saturday, October 21st at Valley Bible Church, 350 Pine Street in Shafter at 10AM followed by a lunch reception at the Ford Theater at 1101 E. Joe was born September 20th, 1954 in San Angelo, Texas to Maurillo and Concepcion (Bonilla) Parra. On March 8th, 1986 he married the love of his life Susie (Mootry) Parra. Joe was employed by R&O Fishing Tools Inc. for over 30 years, where he worked with many lifelong friends. Growing up, he enjoyed fishing with his father and continued that tradition with his two sons. He also enjoyed golfing with his buddies, Larry Cabibi and Hector Aguilar. Joe was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan and for his 60th birthday Susie surprised him with his dream trip of visiting CenturyLink Field to watch a game from the 50-yard line. Anybody that knew Joe would agree that he was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and always looked for opportunities to see the funny things in life.
Joe is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susie, and sons, Joseph (31) and Jake (27). He also leaves behind brother and sister-in-law Ken and Linday Mootry, sisters-in-law Rebecca Sharp and Kathy Garza, and a host of nieces and nephews.

It's only half past twelve, but I don't care, it's 5 o'clock somewhere."
