Joyce Bragg Obituary

JOYCE ANN BRAGG

March 23, 1934 December 27, 2022

Our beautiful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 27, 2022. She was born March 23, 1934 to George and Edna Chandler in Eden, ID. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1943, where her father began farming for Clifford and Bill Mettler.

Joyce attended school at Beardsley Elementary and High School at Kern County Union High School, class of 1952. She married Russell Bragg in 1951, and together had three children. Joyce was a telephone operator in the early years of marriage, then was devoted to raising her three children and a wonderful stepson, David, from our father's previous marriage.

She is reunited with our father, Russell Bragg, along with her parents, George and Edna Chandler, siblings; Gene Chandler, Doris Parrott and Ronald Chandler.

She leaves behind a daughter, Cathy Bragg Curless, son-in-law, Marvin Curless, sons Larry Bragg, Les Bragg, daughter-in-law Carolyn Zeek Bragg; grandchildren, Michael Bragg, Daniel Bragg (preceded in death) Vanessa Curless Zambra, her husband, Diego Zambra, Daniel Bragg, and Nicole Bragg, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

No words can express the depth of the loss of this incredible soul who we were privileged to call Mom! Forever she will be in our hearts, but we are so very grateful for the lessons she taught us, the path to salvation she put us on from the time we were born! She is now with our beloved Lord and Saviour, our Dad, Rusty, and wonderful friends and family who have gone on before us. We look so forward to the day we will all be reunited - love you forever.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on January 11, 2023 at 9am, breakfast reception immediately following.

We are so sorry for your enormous loss. Your mom was welcoming, kind, beautiful and funny! She embraced me into the "family" of neighborhood kids that were raised with you guys when I married "Romero" as she called him. Oh my goodness, the stories she would tell with so much expression and laughter!
Larry and I were blessed by her love, and beautiful knitted gifts for our newborn babies, who are now 40 & 39! Jeremy sends Les a picture every year of the Christmas stocking she made with his name on it because it still means that much to us all!
We have been and will continue to pray for you all with heartfelt condolences.
