JULIO PORRAS ORTIZ

April 12, 1940 – October 18, 2024

We sadly announce that our beloved Julio Porras Ortiz passed from this world on October 18, 2024.

Born in Lorraine, Texas on April 12, 1940, Julio was one of eleven children born to Victor and Manuela Ortiz. He was employed at Memorial Hospital for 15 years, then the City of Bakersfield, retiring after 23 years.

He shared life with the love of his life, Maria for 63 years. He welcomed two children Yvonne (Kevin) and Julio Jr. (Florentina), his grandchildren Julio Ortiz III and Jeannette (Mykael) and the birth of his little angel, great-grandson Ryan. He loved the Rams, the Condors, a great Bar-B-Que and a good slot machine.

Julio was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard, Mike, Manuel, Sammy, Senovio and sister Esther. He is survived by his family, brothers Albert and Victor, sisters Juanita and Maria.

Pallbearers Ben Morin, Tony Garcia, Santos Luevano Jr., Richard Ortiz Jr., Efren Gomez, Jesus Aragon with Honorary Pallbearer Julio Ortiz III.

Viewing Services will be on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield. Mass will be Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10:00am at St Francis Church.
