Lillian Nancy Valenti, 92, passed away peacefully with family at her side March 14, 2016. She was born and raised in Bakersfield to beloved Giuseppe and Albertina Ghilarducci, Italian immigrants on July 20, 1923. Lil was first generation Italian-American and proud of her heritage. Lil resided in Bakersfield her entire life, and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1941. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Nothing was more important to her than her faith, her family, friendships and work at Colombo Construction. She has left an indelible positive imprint on all of our lives.
She proudly served as office manager at Colombo Construction Company for 46 years prior to her retirement in 1994. The personal and professional contacts she made during that tenure were the most rewarding and appreciated friendships of her life. She also was an active and devoted member of the Italian Catholic Federation and Women in Construction.
Lovingly known as "Nini" by family and close friends, "Lili" by her parents. When her first nephew, Jim Fanucchi couldn't pronounce it correctly as a young toddler, but voiced "Nini" instead; the name stuck for good. It was so dear to her to be called "Nini".
Married and devoted to Gino Angelo Valenti on June 15, 1947, in Bakersfield. Some of their most treasured pleasures were dancing together, music, trips to the CA coast, sporting events and spending time with their family.
Lillian is now joined with her beloved sister and best friend Alma Fanucchi (Porter) who never lived over a block away from each other for over 60 years.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents Albertina and Giuseppe Ghilarducci, husband; Gino and sister; Alma. She is survived by her sons; Ron (Mary) and Michael (Tina). Grandchildren; Tony, Jon, Gianna, Leigha, and Victoria. Great-grandchildren; Kaitlin, Mickaela, Alexandra, Brandon, Chase, and Karson. Nephews; Jim Fanucchi (Mary) and Paul Fanucchi (Jeannie); their children; Diane, Justin and Zachary. And many loving cousins and extended family.

I worked with Lillian for 9 years at Colombo Construction. She was a very caring and thoughtful person who loved people. She was someone you could turn to for advice and/or support in both your personal and business life. She always had a good story or laugh to share. She would always remind me that her middle name was Nancy.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. She will be missed.

We are the "Italian" friends of Lil from Brookdale. Although we have known her for such a short time we became very close to her and considered her part of our family. She is gone but not forgotten. Even with her many health problems she was always smiling.
May she rest in peace.

She was always very gracious and over the top friendly to me. She never uttered a negative word in my presence and was always a joy to be around.
