Michael Eskew Obituary

Michael Wayne Eskew, 60, of Bakersfield, CA died in his home on March 14, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his late wife Korby Eskew, and is survived by his wife Margarita Eskew, her children Mandy Navarrette, Amadeo Serna III, and Cristina Salazar, his sons Stewart and Trent Eskew, daughter Hanna Waldrip, grandchildren Lillie, Shaylie, and Cy Eskew, Sydney and Sadie Waldrip, Ariana, Sabrina, Illiana, and Raquel, great-grandchildren Emma and Ethan Garza, father Gaylon Eskew, mother Betty Jo McCaslin, brothers Martin and Quent Eskew, sister Barbara Weinmann, sons-in-law Frankie Navarrette and Andy Waldrip, daughter-in-law Nickie Eskew, mother-in-law Jo Mower, as well as countless nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.
Michael was an adoring and devoted husband, a generous provider, a kind, supportive, warm and loving father, brother, uncle, friend and, above all, he was a good and decent man. An avid horseback rider,  'Cowboy Mike' spent the dawn of his retirement riding the trails and hills of east Bakersfield and offering to teach anyone he met how to ride and care for his beautiful horses. Michael was a genuine man of faith and follower of Christ who spent his early career as a Church of Christ minister before serving the California Department of Corrections for twenty-five years. Michael resided in California but his Tennessee home was never far from his heart and he spoke with fondness of his childhood adventures growing up in west Tennessee. He was dearly loved and admired by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane. A viewing will be held at 12 pm; followed by a chapel service, memorial, and reception at 2 pm.
