Nancy Casselman, 86, of Bakersfield passed away on January 23, 2005. Nancy was born in Russia January 27, 1918 to Eugenia and Ian Soudakoff. Nancy met her husband, Laurence Casselman during WWII in the Manila Philippine Islands where her husband was serving in the U.S. Army.
They moved to Bakersfield in 1962 where she was active as a community volunteer. She worked at the Guild House, member of the Bakersfield Symphony Association, President of Nichols PTA and District PTA President.
She enjoyed traveling and she and her husband traveled extensively around the world.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Laurence; 3 daughters, Linda Casselman Akenhead and her husband, Rob of Huntsville, AL; Cindy Casselman of San Diego; Lauren Casselman and her husband, Jeff of Bakersfield. One son, Laurence Casselman IV and his wife, Kristi of Bakersfield; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Lindsey, Karisa, Eric, Ryan and Jordan. She is also survived by one brother, Igor Soudakoff of San Francisco.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 28th at Mish Funeral Home on Minner Avenue with services following at 1:30 p.m.
