January 7, 1938 - April 8, 2022

In loving memory of Robert (Bobby) Aguilar, 84, of Bakersfield, CA, who passed away at home on Friday, April 8, 2022. Bobby was born on January 7, 1938, in Bakersfield, CA, to Benjamin and Rebecca Aguilar. He was raised by his grandparents, Primitivo and Sofia Aguilar, after his mother passed away. Bobby graduated from East Bakersfield High School and attended Bakersfield College. He began his 40 years of service with the Kern County Sheriff's Department in 1960 as a dispatcher and then a Sheriff's aide in the Civil Division.

Bobby married the love of his life, Linda Olague in 1961 and they had two children, Tony and Cindy. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, family was very important to him. He was a proud family man. Bobby and Linda loved traveling to Pismo Beach with their family and heading to Laughlin with their three side companions, Susan and Carlos Ozuna and Rachel Arias. You could always catch Bobby watering outside with his black headphones on or sitting in his TV room listening to his police scanner.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, son, Tony Aguilar and daughter, Cindy Aguilar-Gil; his granddaughter Jessica (Tim) Goforth, his grandsons Ryan (Ashley Edwards) Aguilar, Adam (Demetra) Aguilar, and Brian Gil; and great-grandsons, Connor and Carson Goforth and Zander and Damian Aguilar and Adyn Edwards; sisters in law and brothers in law, Bob and Mary Ellen Olague, Sylvia and Robert Anaya, David and Avis Olague, Susan and Carlos Ozuna, Diane and (Gilbert deceased) Ochoa, Mike and Chris Olague, and Mark and Cathy Olague and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Words cannot express how much we thank Hoffmann Hospice for the help you provided us. Thank you to the wonderful nurses, Debbie and Melissa, the aides, Veronica and Mona, and Chaplin Brian. The family would also like to thank our nephew, Joey and neighbor, Crystal for caring for our beloved Dad, Husband, and Grandfather.

To me , Bob Aguilar was one of the best KCSO dispatchers ever, I worked patrol from 1973 to 1985, I worked North County Wasco/Shafter. He would always follow up to assure we were okay after arriving at our calls.

I was honored to have worked with Bobby many years at the County. We worked 10 years side-by-side in the combined Fire-Sheriff CommCenter located in the basement of the Jail 1970s to `80s. To simply state, we shared continuous laughter! After 9-1-1 was implemented 11-1995, we went our separate ways but occasionally visited. When we saw each other, the first thing we did was to laugh even without saying a word. I was very blessed to have known Bobby.
