Selma O'Dell Obituary

Selma Juanita Coats O'Dell passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007, at the age of 85 years old, in Bakersfield, CA, where she resided since 1951. She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Glenn O'Dell whom she was married to 57 years. Born to Roy and Ethel Beam Coats on September 5, 1922, in Ray County, Missouri. Living relatives are daughters, Linda O'Dell Hogan of Richmond, MO and Sharon O'Dell Martin of Ripon, CA; granddaughters, Zondra Farney De Cordova of Tampa, FL and Cynthia Farney of Bakersfield, CA; great- grandchildren, Portia De Cordova, Fayth, Terry and Trinity Farney Jones. Also Selma's sisters and brother, Naomi Coats Thomas of Liberty, MO, Leonard Coates of Glendale, AZ, L'Berta Coats Shelton of Pinehurst, NC, Mabel Coats Yoakum of Richmond, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Selma attended Chester Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was active in the Women's Auxiliary. She was a positive counselor and confident listener for her neighbors, friends and family. Services will be held at Hillcrest Chapel on Wednesday, September 19th, 10:00 a.m., 9101 Kern Canyon Road, in Bakersfield, CA 93306. A memorial fund has been established at Hoffmann Hospice, 5300 California Ave., Suite 1, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Selma Juanita Coats O'Dell Sept. 5, 1922 - Sept. 14, 2007
