Stanley Langston Obituary

Stanley Langston 1937 - 2009 Stanley Langston (aka "Dad" and "Papa") was born on September 11, 1937 and passed away with his family by his side on July 22, 2009. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was unconditionally dedicated to his wife of 46 years, Carol, four children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Stanley worked in the masonry business in Bakersfield first as a bricklayer, then as a contractor from 1977 until he retired in 1996. Since retirement he enjoyed his weekly golf games with friends, travelling in his 5th wheel with his wife and The Dianas, and tending to his garden and other projects around the house. He was a constant presence at youth sporting events for his kids and his grandkids. He was known best for his generosity, his big smile and friendly greetings. Stanley is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Karen Langston; sons and daughters-in law, Steve and Audra Langston, Bob and Dee Dee Langston, and Donnie and Erica Langston. Stanley was a beloved "papa" to Ashley Gamboa, Steven, Brooke, Damien and Lexi Langston; Amy Williams and Dustin Langston, Allison and Noah Langston; and his three great grandchildren, Jeslynn and Jaeda Williams, and Ian Gamboa. His parents, Robert and Ida Langston, and two brothers, Allen and Dennis Langston, precede him in death. Services will be held Saturday, July 25, at Brimhall Road Assembly of God, 10700 Brimhall Road at 10:00 a.m. An intimate graveside ceremony will take place immediately following at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to BARC Foundation, 2240 S. Union Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93307, www.barc-inc.org

I don't know how many times I have tried to write something about what Stan has done for me and my family but I could never list it all. I miss him answering the phone when I call,I miss his laugh, his smile, and most of all the love he always showed me and his grand kids. You are the best father in law anyone could ever have and I miss you so much. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. Thank you for taking the time to teach me everything you did especially how I want my family to be. Lexi always says that her papa is in her heart just like she was in yours. You are so missed. Love you Audra

If I could tell Stanley anything right now it would probably be how much I appreciate everything he has done for my daughter Ashley (and me too). I could not have raised Ashley without Stan and Carol who have always been there for us no matter what for over 25 years. Ashley and I will miss him very much.

In 1974 I was 16 and ran my old hand-me-down pickup in the ditch. At 3 am in the morning, Stanley got out of bed and came to my rescue with a truck that had a wench on the front of it. He never mention the incident to my father.

I'm gonna miss ice cream at his house, and his laugh, and how he was never unhappy. He was an amazing guy. I bet golf is awesome in heaven.

Smiling, as always, on vacation last summer.

He was the best papa in the world. Every great memory I have he is a part of. I am so thankful that I got to keep him for as long as I did....if only it could have been longer. I love you papa! This is not goodbye for good we will meet again some day, then once again we will camp, fish and pick tomatoes together. I love you papa!!
