Services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Friday, September 20, 2002, at 1:30 p.m., for Ted Smith Beeson, who passed away peacefully at his home in Bakersfield, CA. Pastor Burt Simpson will officiate.
Ted Smith Beeson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 21, 1930 to Theodore Raymond Beeson and Margaret Alice Cole. He is preceded in death by his parents. Ted is survived by his wife, Harriet; daughter, Debra; grandson, Skip Houghton; brother, Edwin Beeson and wife, Hope; sister, Theresa R. Beeson and brother, William G. Hastrieter and wife, Nancy; and many nieces and nephews.
Ted enjoyed building model airplanes, raising chickens, ducks and geese. He also enjoyed helping other people. Ted worked at Northrup/Grumman for 15 years, and worked on many space projects, such as the X-15 experimental aircraft. He was a friend of Chuck Yeager at Edwards Air Force Base where he worked on the satellite Voyager. He also worked for TRW Systems, at Redondo Beach for five years as a Development Test Technician. In 1985, he moved to Oregon where he found many pleasures in the small town of Corbett, Oregon. Afer his 2nd open heart surgery, Ted and his family moved back to his home state of Lincoln, Nebraska where he retired in 1995. In 1999, Ted and family decided to move back to California and settled in Bakersfield. Ted had suffered three strokes in June of 2000 and was not able to recover from the long illness.
