THEODORE (TED) STANLEY SAMMONS

July 7, 1944 November 16, 2022

Ted was a CA native: Born in Los Angeles, raised in Shafter, and lived his adult life in Bakersfield. He was the oldest of 9 children born to Guy Leonard Sammons and Phyllis Sammons of Shafter, CA. He attended La Sierra College in Riverside, and Bakersfield Junior College. He became a journeyman plumber in 1972 and was member of Local 460 all his professional life. Teds love for building led him to secure his general contractor's license in 1980. He continued to work as a plumber doing commercial work, some of which included prisons, schools, public parks, libraries and production facilities for Bolthouse Farms.

Being the oldest of 9, Ted assumed the responsibility of looking after family with his father's passing. He willingly responded to sibling requests for plumbing repairs. He took up cooking and enjoyed his new hobby, bragging his potato salad was better than his sister's. He commented, I think I missed my calling. I should have been a chef! His love of family and sense of humor were unique to his personality, and he had some great one liners.

Ted took early retirement at 55 following a diagnosis of Parkinson's. He never let that hold him back. When he could no longer work with tools, he'd bring a helper to get the job done.

Things Mr. Sammons enjoyed were motorcycle riding, vintage cars, real estate investing and working. Some of his fondest memories were motorcycle trips he took with his Southern California friends to Death Valley, Kennedy Meadows and Baja.

Ted was a member of the Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bakersfield.

Mr. Sammons is survived by his son, Theodore Blaine Sammans, 7 siblings, and 16 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, California 93306, on December 17, 2022, at 1:00 P.M.
