Thomas Pounds Obituary
August 17, 1932 August 27, 2023
Thomas Eugene Pounds passed away on August 27, 2023 and born to heaven now. Thomas was born August 17, 1932. Tom and his brother, Bob were raised by their mother and stepfather, Phil. He attended school in Los Angeles and attended Los Angeles City Colleges. Tom joined the Air Force in 1953. He was not sent oversees because he got the measles while in basic training. After healing he was sent to Saudi Arabia and was a radio operator tracking planes coming into that country. While in the service, he married and had two beautiful daughters, Deborah and Pamela Pounds. He received his master degree from the University of San Francisco. While teaching, he also worked for Sears in the tire department in Sacramento. He was the top salesman. Later, Tom got his teaching credential and administrative credential. He taught in the Sacramento area and also principal in Placer County and Atascadero. Later he met Virginia and they have been married 53 years. Virginia, the love of his life and he was her treasure. He was a board member in Kern City. Volunteered as a docent for the Bakersfield Museum and tutored first graders. He taught bible studies at Westminster Presbyterian Church and was an elder. Tom and Virginia have a lot of memories camping in a 5th wheel trainer. They traveled to Canada, Oregon, and other California camping sites. They both enjoyed playing golf so they had to camp near a golf course. They traveled on several cruises to Mexico, Alaska, and the Caribbean. They took trips to Hawaii, Arizona and Branson, Missouri and got lost once. He was always full of knowledge and had his wonderful smile. He was so loved and will be missed deeply. Until we meet again mi corazon.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Pounds, daughters Deborah McKim, Curt, Pamela Pounds, Lisa Parker, Grandson, Chet Parker, Kendra, Great granddaughters Addi and Brynleigh Parker, Sister-n-laws Evelyn Pounds, Isabel Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
