Z. Cox Obituary

Z. M. (Mack) Cox 1943 - 2010 Z. M. (Mack) Cox, 66, of Bakersfield, California, passed away Thursday April 15, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Mack was born September 25, 1943, in Woodville, Mississippi, the fourth child of Zollie and Lola Mae Cox. He is survived by his one and only love, wife of 45 years, OmaLena. As well as his two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Jeff Russell and Susan and Scott Chelf; three grandchildren, Shasta White, Corey Russell, and Joshua Moutrey; his mother, Lola Mae Schaff; his three siblings, Johnny Ruth King, Richard Cox, and James Cox. He was preceded in death by his father, Zollie Maurice Cox. Mack was known as a kind and generous man who cared more for others than himself. His sense of adventure and intelligence enriched the lives of those who knew him and he will be deeply missed. His life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, at the Candle Light Chapel, 1723 Columbus Street, between Haley and Mt. Vernon. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Susan, you are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need anything, I'm here for you. So sorry you're going through this loss.

He is with you wherever you go. He is the wind in your face, the rain on your hair, the warmth of the sun, the briskness of snow. He'll send you singing birds, and the carefreeness of butterflies fluttering around you. When you see these things and hear these things around you, it's him letting you know he's there with you. You will feel him in the quiet mountains, and hear him at the sounding ocean.
