Anna "Ellen" Horn

1944 - 2018

Anna "Ellen" Horn, 74, of Ft. Ashby, formerly of Baltimore, went to our Lord's home in heaven, on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at home surrounded by her family after a tough battle with cancer. She was born Anna Ellen Lucas on February 10, 1944, to the late James Lucas and Rose Anne (Lober) McComas in Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved step-father, Francis X. McComas, who raised her since age two, Baltimore; and brothers, William McComas and Frank McComas, Baltimore. Ellen retired after 35 years in banking in Baltimore. She served as a teller, branch manager, sales manager, and assistant vice president. She then moved to Ft. Ashby where she loved the mountains and watching and feeding the wildlife in the back yard. She liked doing arts and crafts, making and decorating cakes from single layers to three-tiered wedding cakes. She was very talented. She loved gardening and her "little children" who were puppies or rescue dogs. Her smile could brighten anyone's spirits. She will always be in our hearts and greatly missed. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, James Horn; three children, Joan E. Mairose, of Ft. Ashby, Jean Cogar and husband Steve, of Baltimore, and Michael L. Horn and wife Kathy, of Baltimore; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Steve McComas and wife "Duckie," of Jacksonville, NC; and special childhood friend "Cissy" Benway, of Glen Rock, PA. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown, on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 4 to 6 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11 am. In accordance with Ellen's wishes, she will be cremated following the funeral service. Inurnment will be private and at a later date, per Ellen's request. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon following the funeral service on Saturday at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 128 Wesley Chapel Drive, Short Gap, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellen's name may be made to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, Attn: Julie Hardy, 12500 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
