Dolores J. Horn, 94, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Solarbron.

Dolores was born on October 17, 1931, in Evansville to the late Herbert M. and Gevena (Hornby) Ahles. She was a 1949 graduate of FJ Reitz High School. After graduating from high school, Dolores went to work at Wells Department Store and National City Bank. Dolores earned a degree in elementary education from the University of Evansville in 1972. Upon graduation, she taught nursery school at McCutchanville Nursery School and Totten Hall Nursery School. Dolores was nominated for Nursery School Teacher of the Year while at Totten Hall.

Dolores was a faithful member of Methodist Temple United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as the past president of the United Methodist Women's Organization.

Dolores loved children and more than anything, enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving Dolores are her husband of 73 years, Ken Horn; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jeff Kohut; daughter-in-law, Kim Horn; grandchildren and their spouses, Nicolette (Caleb) Leach, Kenneth (Mary) Horn, Christopher Horn, and Heather Horn and a great grandson, Michael Horn.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a son, Michael Horn; sister, Sallie Georgesen and by an infant brother, Alvin H. Ahles.

Funeral services for Dolores will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Andy Payton officiating. Burial will follow in McCutchanville Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.

Dolores' family extends a special thank you to the staffs of Solarbron and Charles Ford Hospice for making Dolores comfortable in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714.
