Christopher,
I will always remember that everytime you saw me you would smile and give me a big hug..and even though I am standoffish, I always enjoyed it when you would do that and I will miss it now. And you loved my corney jokes. Love Pop-Pop Ray.

Where to begin, losing Christopher is heartbreaking for all of you. He was an amazing child raised and surrounded by amazing parents and family. What I remember most about Christopher is when you said hello to him He would say hello and ask, "Can I give you a hug" and give you one of the biggest hugs ever. I'll miss that most.
Again, my heart and thoughts are with you always, Love Debbie

Ray & Kim,
We were all blessed to have had Christopher with us, even though it was too short a time. There are 2 things that stand out in my mind and both are when he was just a baby. The first was when I watched Chris one afternoon. It was the first time I had the responsibilty of watching a baby by myself. For the most part, he slept all afternoon, but I stood next to his crib and didn't take my eyes off of him the entire nap. It was amazing watching him and I was thankful that he didn't cry or need a diaper change. The other memory that will always stay with me was watching him rock on that rocking horse at grandmom & grandpop's house. He took that horse to its limits and the shear determination on his face was only matched by his smiles. It was worth standing by and watching him rock so fast & hard that every adult that passed by was horrified that this little boy was going to fly off this horse. Many a time an adult would run over with their arms out thinking he was going over, but he never did. He had everything under control. May God bless his soul. We are all truly blessed for having had him in our lives.
Love always,
Uncle John

Kim, Ray, Michael,and Katie:

Words cannot express our feelings and deepest sympathy to all of you for your loss. Although we did not know Christopher well, we will always remember the times we were with him during the Cub Scout meetings at your house. From the first time we met him and during subsequent meetings, we were always very impressed with him. In this day and age when most teenage boys seem reluctant to even associate with adults much less initiate conversations with them, Chris was quite different. He would meet us at the door with a big smile on his face and invite us in. He was very personable, engaging and always upbeat. He seemed to be a very unique and caring young man.

The last time we saw Chris was last winter at the annual Blue and Gold Dinner where the Cub Scout Troop celebrated the special accomplishments of the scouts and their advancement to Boy Scouts. He sat across from us and talked about various things, including how he loved Mark's Swedish Meatballs. At one point, with a smile on his face, Chris looked around the room and said: "ahh, the old Blue and Gold Dinner...I love the Blue and Gold Dinner, there's just something special about it".

When we heard of Chris' untimely passing, our thoughts immediately flashed back to that night at the Blue and Gold Dinner and we could clearly picture his smiling face. It reminded us that it's not the particular events of our lives but the people with whom we share those events that make them significant and special. As we went through our routines that day, one particular thought was foremost in our minds - there was something special about Chris.

God bless you.

Kim, Ray, Katie and Michael,
We are so very, very sorry about Christopher. Our hearts and our tears are with all of you. It was such an honor to be able to get to know Christopher this summer. He was such a special boy. He brought so much joy and happiness to those around him. We will never ever forget that big smile of his. I don't think I have ever met such a polite young man. He taught us all a lesson about how important it is to be kind to all each and everyday. We consider getting to know Christopher one of our life's greatest blessings. Please try to remember that having the both of you for parents, surely was one of his. Love, Paul, Dawn and Katie

Christopher, I will always miss the bright smile and the big hug you always gave when we saw you. You were fun to be with and no matter what we were doing, you always made it more interesting. Your attention to detail always amazed me. I will miss our trips around town to see the Holiday Train Gardens and I'll miss our rides on the Strasberg Railroad with old NO. 90, and of course we would always finish with dinner at Lapp's restaurant. Our boat rides were always fun. Sometimes when it was just you and me, rather than drive the boat you would sit on the bow and just daydream. I don't know what your thoughts were but from the happy look on your face I know they took you to good places. Christopher, everything you did with us made our lives happier. We miss you and you will always be in our hearts and on our minds.

To my grandson who ate braunschweiger and golabki (stuffed cabbage). He went from eating homemade dinners to calling me for receipes. He loved baking day at my house everyyear. He went to B&O with grandpop Doc then came back to sample all the cookies. But most of all he loved family gatherings and family vacations. Best Holiday "Thanksgiving". You will always be in my heart.

Kim & Ray,
Although it is very difficult for us to accept that we can no longer see Christopher in person, we have found great comfort in knowing that he is still with us and watching over us from all of the signs he has shown us over the past week. Christopher will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will always remember his great laugh, big smile and all those wonderful stories which make us smile every time we think of him. It is those things (and so many others) that will keep him close in our hearts forever. Always know that you can count on any of us (and all of us) to be here for you any time you need comfort, support, or a helping hand at any hour of the day.

Kim & Ray,

It is still extremely hard for all of us to believe that Christopher is not physically with us. We are, however, very comforted by the many signs Christopher has shown to us that he is still clearly with us and now watching over us, and I for one feel great comfort from that. There are so many memories that will always remain with us and make us smile when we think of him, even now, when we have such deep sadness in our hearts. You know we are always here anytime either of you or Katie & Michael need us for anything.

Love,
Laura & John

PS- I have also attached the letter I wrote last week, as my memory of Christopher.

Dear Christopher,
My nephew and godson, you have fought a valiant battle in your short life and none of us saw this one coming. You are by far the bravest person I have ever known and I know you are with us today to see everyone here who loves you far more than you ever knew and those whose lives you have touched in an unending way. Our hearts are heavy and you will be sorely missed. I also know that you now can see what a special mother and father you have who tirelessly fought every day to give you the absolute best your entire life. They are truly the most devoted parents I have ever known. And the special place you hold in your grandparents hearts, not to mention your brother, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and of course, Mr. McLeary and Ms. Mary. But it’s not only in grief that we are here, but also to remember what a special person you are to all of us and how much joy you brought to us.

I am sure there are many memorable moments I am forgetting right now but I would like to remind everyone of a few that I will never forget about you. I will never forget your wide-mouth smile, big welcoming hugs, and your loud boisterous laugh. I will never forget your mom feeding you under a ceiling fan for the first six months of your life, or the spaghetti bowl you not only ate but wore all over your entire body while sitting in the middle of the dining room table. Or the Gymboree classes you and Abbey took when you were young, and her calling you Todor for the first 3 years of her life. I will never forget our trips to Ocean City and the thrill on your face when you rode the OC Rocket, nor will I ever forget you and Ryan on the microphones last New Year’s Eve. Everyone remembers your love of sitting and talking about everything that was important to you and your great stories about Muffin having puppies, the Valley bus breaking down on the way to North Carolina and how you always kept the bus drivers busy talking to them on the way to field trips. We will all remember the passion you had for your school, being manager of the soccer team, and how much you loved the plays you were in and by the way, you were great in them. You always loved music from the early Wee-Sing days of rocking back and forth in your car seat to your beloved trains, especially green train and 90, and the hard work you put into your train room which you were so proud of, and most recently your love of comedy with Jose Jalapeno on a stick and the old grumpy man. I will always remember the days we talked on the bus stop about your school and lots of other things that were important to you at that moment including some of your and Katherine’s funny antics.

I could go on forever, but will finish by saying, none of us who spent Thanksgiving with you last week will ever forget that Thanksgiving and just how thankful we all are to have had you in our lives for 15 ½ years. You are truly one of kind and we will carry your legacy forward always…

Abbey Neuberger

December 6, 2007

Dear Christopher,
I never wanted to have to say goodbye to you. It will never ever be the same walking into your house and not having you nearly crush me with your welcoming hug or hearing thoes stories about your bus breaking down on the way to trips, although in heaven im sure you have already told everyone about it. I will always be thinking of you and all the fun times we had together.?

December 6, 2007

Dear Kim,Ray,Katie and Michael,
I love Christopher so much. I have only great memories about him and the times we spent together. I loved watching him when he was a baby. I treasured the times when I was able to hold him while he slept on my shoulder, swinging him in his swing outside or watching him jump himself to sleep in his jolly jumper. I will always remember the times spent at Strasburg and hearing about "90". Joshua loved spending his birthday with Christopher during the Day Out with Thomas and Christopher helping him build his brio train sets. I also loved the craziness in Christopher. He was always joking, smiling, laughing, dancing and singing and so passionate about the things that he loved; trains, Shania Twain, Jemicy. But the thing he loved most of all was his family and spending time with each and everyone of us. He always found something in common to talk about from the oldest to the youngest in our family. Christopher will be missed by all but never forgotten.

We all know and love Christopher Cooper and I bet he is having fun where he is right now, even if he's not here in person. He will always be here in our hearts and we all know that Christopher is a very special person to us. He will always be here but we might just not be able to see him. We love him. He is a special person. I bet he is looking down from heaven right now and saying wow what nice family and friends I have to take care of me. We all cried cause we all love him. We will always be there for him. God Bless Christopher Cooper.

Mr. Ray and Mrs. Kim,
My mom told me about Chris's passing. I am so sorry. When we were in scouts together he was so much fun. He always smiled and laughed. He was a good friend. I talk about him a lot when we bring out the scout pictures. When we spent the night on the boat in the Inner Harbor comes to mind a lot. We got into trouble, but it was fun. Chris will always be remembered in my life. He was a good person. With my sincere sympathy. Nate Baldwin

Mr. and Mrs. Cooper,
I am very sorry about what happened to Chris. He was a great kid and had a lot of talent in him. I have done several school plays with him and I felt he did an excellent job. He was also a nice person and definitely someone you could count on. Again, I am sorry for what happened and I hope that he is never forgotten.

Dear Ray and Kim,

As neighbors across the court, we want you to know that Christopher brought happiness to us every time we would see him. Even just seeing him outside with your family enjoying each other or doing yardwork with Ray or playing with the dogs, he always radiated a special kind of happiness different from that of other children playing on the street. We say this because that is really the only way we knew Christopher, from afar, but it was more than enough to show how special he was in this world and how much he is loved by your family. God has a special way of using children like this to spread his message...and Christopher lived up to that everyday. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, it is especially difficult to lose a loved one at this time of the year. Keep happy memories in your heart, that is where he lives on.

I am deeply heartbroken at the loss of Chris. He was truly an angel, and he possessed such remarkable spirit. He was a joy to have in class, and he was always helpful to other students who may have been having trouble. I'll never forget seeing him in the hallway and hearing him say, "Hey, Mrs. Lassen!" He always seemed happy to see me. The hallways at school will never be the same. I will keep Chris and the entire Cooper family in my thoughts and prayers forever. He will be greatly missed.

As I am sitting here heartbroken for your loss, and our loss. I am remembering all the wonderful gifts that Christopher gave to us. He had the ability to give love that made you believe you were the most important person to him on earth and that there was nowhere he would rather be than with you. He gave love that was unconditional. His smile was right from his heart and lightened up everone. He shared Gods love through his life with everyone he met. He is only able to give these gifts to others, because as parents you were able to give that to him. He had the best that anyone could have, He had both of you.
