Doretha Carr Obituary

Doretha Davis Carr, 96, a retired Baltimore City Public Schools educator, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Born and raised in East Towson, MD to the late George and Amy Davis, she was the third of eight children She went on to become a teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System where she taught home economics for 41 years.

Doretha is survived by her devoted son, Joseph, daughter-in-law Paula, cherished granddaughter Joelle, grandsons, Derek and Dominic, her longtime companion Mr. Hill, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who cherished her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Amy Davis, brothers: Thomas, Louis, George, and Willie, sisters: Naomi, Amy, and Verjesta.

Funeral service will be held 10am Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Mt. Calvary AME Church in Towson, MD. Burial will follow at Arbutus Memorial Park.

Public visitation is from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. , Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Chatman-Harris Funeral Home 5240-44 Reisterstown Rd., Baltimore, MD.
