He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and several locations within the United States.

Edward is survived by his son John Koetz of Abingdon, two daughters - Joanne Dumbauld of Abingdon, Judith Taylor and her husband Jeff of Aberdeen; 3 Grandchildren - Ariel Brothers, Christine Koetz, Bradlee Koetz; his brothers Harold Lewis with wife Marjorie, Robert with wife Margie, Kenneth, Arthur, Charles and wife Diane; his Sisters Joanne Ritenour, Tammy Campbell, Rose Bierer and numerous other family.

Fondly known to many as Mr. Ed, he was an avid fisherman in his younger years, had a passion for working on cars and enjoyed watching sports on TV (hard core Pittsburgh Steelers Fan). He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

Services and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Vietnam Veterans of America or Alzheimer's Association.
