This is late in the game, and you never were Ellen. I wanted to talk to you, get your opinion about many things, but I waited too long. This is more about what I wanted to say to you...to hug you and tell you that you were right. I have never forgotten when you came to me as ashamed as I was with a gift. I have given 'The Prophet' to others that I have cared for as well. The thing that keeps me up at times when I should be sound asleep is that I cant remember if I ever told you how much I loved you.
Haunted with love,

I read the In Memoriam section of the Loyola Magazine and to my sadness read Ellen's name there. I am so very sorry that I lost touch with such a nice person and so very sorry for her family for whom she cared for so deeply.

I am so saddened to hear the loss of such a wonderful, loving, helpful, and giving person. I worked with Ellen at the Waxter Children's Center for over seven years. Unfortunately we lost touch after I left; nevertheless, I will never miss her smile, determination, and work ethic. It was truly my pleasure to have known and worked with her.

I was so saddened to hear of Ellen's passing. My husband and I know Ellen from Saint Ignatius and from the catering business, where she worked a few jobs with us. She was always smiling, always concerned about others, and always offering her help to anyone and everyone. She was a lovely woman and friend and a great example of Christian love. With deep sorrow and gratitude for having known her.

Since the name Ellen means "light" or "torch", lighting a candle to one who was a light in so many lives -- especially her students -- seems appropriate. Man, will so many miss you Ellen!

I worked with Ms. Talley for a number of years and she was a good person and hard worker. She was one who understood her role and "purpose" in dealing with and teaching troubled youth. She gave love, compassion, and care to all. She will be missed.

Dear Family of Ellen,
My heart goes out to you during this time of sudden loss. I will miss working with Ellen at Chefs Expressions. She became a very nice person to know; was very knowlegable and provided interesting conversation.
May our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the angels and saints keep watch over her spirit.
You are in my prayers.

"For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Life is so very short, but what you do with your time on earth lives forever. Ms. Talley's commitment to the youth we serve and relationships she formed with her co workers will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

My condolences to the Talley family during this time. I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Talley at the Thomas J.S. Waxter Children's Center. All who knew Ms. Talley new she was a person who would go over and beyond when it came to the youths education in addition to providing and or finding structured programming for the young ladies to participate in and or learn from. She was a truly an inspiration and blessing to all. She will be remember for all that she has done and just the sweet woman that she was.

We are so sad for the loss of a wonderful sister, sister-in-law and aunt that Ellen was to Dennis, Andrea, Mercer & Harlow. We had met Ellen several times when our visits to NYC were in sync. Her life was certainly far too short. Blessings of comfort and much love to the entire Talley family.

Ellen Marie Talley was one of the most dedicated educators I have had the privilege of working with. She was committed to her work, the children she served, her family and coworkers. She made an indelible mark on humanity with her care and concern. I am blessed to have worked with her. Johnitha McNair (former Superintendent, Thomas J. S. Waxter Children's Center).

Ellen was in a class all by herself -- so giving, friendly, warm and selfless, and she could laugh until she cried telling a funny story. We had some wonderful times with Ellen and are so thankful for those, and that she was our friend. We will miss her and always remember her fondly. Our condolences to Dennis, Andrea, Mercer, Harlowe, David, and all her family at this sad time.
