I am so saddened to hear of Professor Bonadio's passing. He was a lovely man and very kind to me when I was an undergraduate History major at UCSB. He loved to laugh and he really had a flair for lectures...I will never forget him - he was so generous with his time.

Dr. Bonadio was my advisor at UCSB in the 1960s. We had our senior seminar at his house. He was a great professor, I loved his lectures with his deep knowledge of Civil War and Reconstruction as well has his wit and sense of humor. He was a great professor, advisor and example of academia at its best. Thank you for all you did for your students.

The world is a dimmer place without Bill Bonadio in it. I adored this man. I worked in the History Department at UC Santa Barbara where he was a professor. I looked forward to him coming into the office for a good tease and an even better laugh. He asked my sister-in-law, Linda and I to always check that he looked all right. We always told him he looked handsome and dapper. I think he liked to come in and talk to us to wind down after his lectures or any stressful times at the office. We never asked how his research was going! We always just "played" with him. I remember when the first grandson was born and how proud he was when he brought him in to show him off. You've never seen a happier man. What a sweetheart he was. I have missed him terribly when he moved back to Baltimore; now it's an even deeper kind of missing him. Rest well, my old friend. Love to Betty, Frank, Mary, Bob, the grandkids, and Sugar.

I am saddened to hear of Professor Bonadio's passing. He was an inspiring teacher and scholar and I was privileged to learn from him at UC Santa Barbara. Felice will be long remembered by those of us who took his classes for his tour de force lectures (his lecture on eugenics in a course on immigration was unforgettable), his warm encouragement, and his sharp sense of humor. My condolences to his family. --Jay Carlander

Dear Betty and Family, I was saddened to read of Bill's passing in the Santa Barbara News Press. My husband Bill Morgan did your tax preparation for many, many years and Bill Bonadio was one of my husband's favorite clients!! Your Bill even helped my husband tile our front entry way! He was such a delightful man. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope he and my husband Bill, are someplace wonderful telling each other outrageous stories! My prayers are with you. Kathie Morgan
