George Keil Obituary

George Merle Keil, 86, born to Doris Marie Keil (Prell) and Merhle Adam Keil March 3, 1938. He was called Merle by his family. Merle married his beloved wife Doris Lynn Keil (VanNewkirk) in 1963.

Merle is survived by a brother and sister. Raymond M Keil (Sharon) and Ruth Kobal (McHaffie). He is also survived by a cousin, Barbara Suehle.

Merle is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Doris A Keil-Shamieh (Gregory) and Leslie E Rupp (Eric). Merle is survived by two sons and their wives, Christopher B Keil (Michele) and Eric C. Keil (Angel).

Merle's grandchildren include, Devin Shamieh, Wallis Shamieh and Finn Shamieh, Mallory and Zachary Rupp, Stephanie and Christopher Keil, and Autumn Keil. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Merle was born in Highlandtown and lived in the North Harford Road neighborhood for more than 50 years. He served in the Navy where he learned to be a machinist. He was employed by Koppers Company for more than 25 years.

You could find Merle in his woodworking studio creating beautiful furniture. Merle also loved the outdoors. Many weekends were spent taking his children to the woods camping and fishing. Merle and wife Lynn enjoyed canning food together in the summer. Merle loved to cook too. Merle loved going for Sunday drives with the whole family stuffed into a VW Beetle. He enjoyed being with his family most.

The memorial service is Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00am for visitation. The service will be at 11:00am. at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 9534 Belair Rd, Perry Hall, MD 21236.
