AVIRETT, JR. , James A. On January 4, 2007, JAMES ALFRED
AVIRETT, JR., loving husband of Suzanne Avirett; beloved son of the late James Alfred, Sr. and Sarah Avirett; devoted father of James Alfred Avirett III, John Charles Avirett and Carrie Suzanne Avirett; dear brother of Sarah Hoover, Anne Dilts; nephew of the late John Williams Avirett.
A memorial gathering will be held in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road), Timonium, MD, 21093 on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A memorial service will be celebrated in the St. Stephens Traditional Episcopal Church, 11856 Mays Chapel Road, Timonium, MD, 21093, 410-560-6776 on Wednesday, January 10 at 11 A.M. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in Mr. Avirett's name to the St. Stephens Traditional Episcopal Church at the above address.

Dear Family of Jim Avirett:

I knew Jim through professional work when Jim was a principal at the WR&A engineering firm. I worked with Jim on several projects, my role being consulting architectural designer. This was ten or more years ago. I only learned of his passing last week, and quite by chance. I was deeply saddened to hear this tragic news. I remember Jim as a person of honor and integrity, both a fine professional and a gentleman, treating all who worked with him with respect, and so geting them to do their best for the project. There is a saying in the Jewish religion that applies most aptly to Jim: "May his memory be as a blessing".

Suzanne,

I was visiting my mom in Cumberland and was sadened by the the obituary of your husband. I went to Parkside elementary school and I think a number of years at Allegany High with Jim. We were not close, but the fact that fewer of us are going to be attending our 40th reunion is unsettleing.
My prayers are with you and your family during this time. Please remember the good times that you had and that GOD has him in the palm of his hand.

When you look back on life, the people you remember most are the ones that, despite their hurried schedules, always stop by just to ask how you've been. That was Jim. From the professional side, he was a great inspiration to those around him, not because of what he asked of them, but because of what they saw in his work. Suzanne and family, you have my sympathy; Jim was the same age as my father, and I honestly cannot imagine what you're going through.

Dear Suzanne and family,

Dot and I were very privileged to know Jim. We certainly enjoyed his personality and outlook on life. We also thoroughly enjoyed the meetings in Williamsburg with you and Jim. We will pray for you and your family to assist you in this time of sorrow.
