James Marmer Obituary

James 'Jay' Alan Marmer, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, at the age of 70. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Marmer (nee Berlin); children, David Marmer, and Andrew Marmer (Lindsay Garten); mother, Shirley Marmer Kern; sisters, Barbara (Dale) Joyner, and Leslie (Jon) Davidson; and granddaughter, Julia Marmer. He was predeceased by his father, Irving Marmer (z"l).

Jay was beloved by all who knew him and can only be described as a true mensch. He was always interested in learning about people and imparting his wisdom to others. After retiring as a Human Resources Executive, Jay took pride in his retirement job, teaching Human Resource Management at Stevenson University and volunteering on the board of trustees at St. Elizabeth School. Teaching was his passion and he was incredibly invested in the success of his students. His greatest pride were his sons David and Andy and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time and being papa to his beloved granddaughter Julia.

Services at Beth El Memorial Park, 9701 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133, on Friday, April 12th, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Please omit flowers. I was saddened to hear of Jay's passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Jay was devoted to his family and was a pleasure to be around. He always had a humorist side to him and provided many a laugh with his keen wit. Jay will be missed. Rest in peace.
