Joan Z. Foit

Joan Zimmerman Foit, 89, of Catonsville, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, after a short hospital stay, surrounded by her loving children. She was predeceased by her husband, James B. Foit Jr., her sister, Eleanor Z. Troy and infant granddaughter, Christine Elizabeth Foit. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joan is survived by her three children, whom she loved dearly: Michele Bent (Mark), James D. Foit (Liz), and Renee Smith (Rob). She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren, fourteen adored great-grandchildren, and many beloved family members and friends. Joan dedicated 39 years of her life as a nurse at Mercy Medical Center, a place that became her second home. Her compassionate care and unwavering dedication touched countless lives. Outside of work, she found joy in shopping and taking her pictures, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She loved a good game of cards and playing Bingo with her friends, always enjoying the friendly competition and camaraderie. A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on July 12th to honor Joan's memory.
