Joe was a teammate on the St. Francis College (now University of New England) championship soccer team of 1964. This was the first championship team at St. Francis and was recognized by induction into the UNE Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a valued teammate and great individual. RIP, Joe.

I was on the Chicopee High School soccer team with Joe and on one kickoff I told Joe to break down the left side of the field and I would pass it to him and he might get a shot on goal , The play worked perfectly and Joe scored! Ir seems like it was just yesterday! Good bye Joe! RIP! Bert Fontaine

I am deeply sorry for the devastating loss of Joe and his sister, Peg, within such a short span of time. It´s unimaginable to lose two loved ones so closely together. While I did not know Joe personally, it is evident what a wonderful man he was and how much he meant to his family and friends. I hope that the cherished memories of both Joe and Peg bring some comfort during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family as you navigate this profound loss.

Joe was a valued member of the Saint Mark Catholic Church choir for many years, including serving as a Cantor. He was always willing to pitch in and his gentle, friendly demeanor won him many friends. Heartfelt condolences to his loving wife Eva and their family from our choir members.

As the former principal of Magruder HS, I would like to say that in my 23 years at the school I never met a kinder and more caring individual than Joe Austin. Hello always had a kind word for everyone. He was always a voice of reason and wisdom.
Joe Austin made a difference and will be missed. Dr. Lee Evans
