Joseph Steigerwald Obituary

Joseph John Steigerwald, 80, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Joe was the beloved son of the late George Aloysious Steigerwald and the late Mary Rita (Faro) Steigerwald. He attended Our Lady of Pompei School and Calvert Hall College High School. Joe went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Maryland and his law degree from the University of Baltimore.

Joe dedicated his career to public service as a Baltimore County Assistant State's Attorney for 30 years, where he was admired for his fairness, dedication, and commitment to justice.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Burkhardt. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lisa Langston, Tom Bohager (Lorie), Mary Hametz, David Bohager (Shari), and Michelle Zuromski (Shane); 16 great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 200 Ware Avenue, Towson, MD. A graveside service will be held immediately following at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 4430 Belair Rd., Baltimore, MD 21206.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization https://www.bbbs.org/
