Virginia Lee Chandler Gleaton-Agee, resident of Greenwood, and loving wife of Robert Agee Jr. passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Born in Greenwood, Lee was the daughter of the late Wallace and Brownee Hamilton Chandler. A 1965 graduate of Greenwood High School, Lee went on to receive her BS degree from the University of Baltimore. A member of the original core management team of the National Aids Hotline, Lee advanced to the position of PR coordinator for the group; traveling three out of four weeks a month; teaching and educating all who would listen about the disease at a time when little was known or understood. Following her career with the Hotline, Lee went on to pursue her other passions of interior design, teaching courses on design at Piedmont Technical College, and later worked as a floor design specialist with Maxx Carpet. A woman with many passions, Lee was a talented seamstress and gifted in craft beadwork. Many have enjoyed her designs throughout the years.

Lee was a faithful member of New Market Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Left to cherish her memory in addition to her loving husband Bob of the home are her children Ralph Lee Chandler II, JD (Dr. Heather Chandler)of Greenville, Holly Chandler (Rebecca) of Lexington, Robert D. Agee III of Jacksonville FL., Alice Rebecca Holmes (Cordell) and Michael David Agee (Sharon), both of Birmingham AL; grandchildren Ralph James Gleaton, Riley Carolina Gleaton, Elisha Alexander, Nicolas Brennan, Michael Brennan, Brittany Agee, Zachary Agee, Elizabeth Agee and a great grandson Dillon Alexander.
