Verlene Scott Obituary
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Duvall and Albert A. O'Kelley. A graduate of Parker High School, Verlene was a devoted educator serving over thirty years as a teacher's assistant in the Abbeville school system. She was a faithful member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Keith Scott (Peggy) of Anderson, and Lisa Bannister (Phil) of Abbeville; grandchildren Jennifer Kennedy (Micah) of Anderson, Seth Scott of Greenwood, Kendall Cleary (Stephen) of Anderson, Ashtin Chamblee (Ethan) of Anderson, Phillip Bannister of Abbeville and Matthew Bannister (Megan) of Pauline; great-grandchildren Rhett Kennedy, Claire Kennedy, Coleman Cleary, Landon Chamblee, Bentley Scott, Brooklyn Bannister, Asher Scott, and Rhodes Cleary.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday from the Chapel of Blyth Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
Private burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood.
